Wales

"Wales (Welsh: Cymru;[1] pronounced /ˈkəmrɨ/ ) is one of the four constituent countries, or 'home nations', that together make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is situated in the west of mainland Britain, with England inland to its east and the Irish Sea and Celtic Sea to the west. Wales has a population estimated at three million and is a bilingual country, with English the language spoken by the majority, and Welsh the native tongue."

Fflur Dafydd - Ar ol Heddiw

Ar ol Heddiw

Ti’n byw yn fy meddwl fel angel mawr dryslyd

Yn glyd yn fy nghof ti fel atgof mawr chwyslyd

Mor iach, a ma ‘mhen i’n rhy fach

Ti’n hyn na’r bydysawd a’r byd ar dy ben di

Dwi’n barod amdanat dwi ar blat er dy fwyn di

Ond na, ma dy feddwl rhy lân

Ma dy galon yn nhaerni’r tân

Fyddai ddim dy ishe di ar ôl heddi

Ond ma heddi’n mynd i bara am byth

A tra ti mor gysglyd a dwi mor gymysglyd

Fydd ‘na ddeunydd da fan hyn

Fyddai ddim dy ishe di ar ôl heno

Ond ma’ heno’n mynd i bara am byth

A tra ti mor gysglyd a dwi mor gymysglyd

Fydd ‘na ddeunydd da fan hyn

Dwi’n cloddio bob diwrnod er mwyn gweld dy galon

Ma’r sgerbwd yn codi, a’r pridd bach mor fodlon

Ond hei, haws dweud na gwneud

Ma hanes yn rhwbeth sy’n hawdd neud i fyny

Ac ma’n un i yn orlawn o’r holl beth felly

Ond ti, wyt ti’n stori wir, mae dy galon yn nhaerni’n tân

Castell y Bere

"One Welsh castle sometimes overlooked by visitors is Castell- y-Bere, once an impressive fortress built by Llywelyn ap Iorwerth, also known as Llywelyn the Great, Prince of Gwynedd in the early 13th century. But what a marvelous, typically Welsh site for a castle! Embedded in the arms of the darkly foreboding, starkly greenish-gray landscape formed by rugged Cadair Idris and its mountainous cohorts near Abergynolwyn some 10 miles SW of Dolgellau, the greatly ruined Castell-y-Bere now lies isolated from the major communication routes across Wales, atop a steep-sided, flat-topped rock, perfectly situated to stand guard over the surrounding valley floor. The drive along the minor roadway to the site seems to go on forever, but the breath-taking spectacle of Cadair Idris, the "Chair of Idris", is in itself worth the jaunt. Legends have it that if you spend a night on the mountain, you will awake the next morning either a poet or a madman!"
