Wiimbledon...The UK's hottest tennis tournament!

"Sunday 29th June 2008 - Cardiff

Forget the washout of Wimbledon fortnight. Wiimbledon is the Nintendo lovers' equivalent, and it'll take a massive hole in the roof before we shout "Play is suspended!"

Just imagine. No rain delays... no paying too much for a strawberry... no moistened ballads from one Cliff Richard. Not even a Henman Hill!

Wiimbledon is just pure tennis - Nintendo Wii style, of course! "

Fund Raising at Wiimbeldon

"Adding to the list of unusual ways of raising funds for the appeal, Richard O'Donovan of Whitchurch, Cardiff is playing at Wiimbledon this year. No ... not Wimbledon ... Wiimbledon. This is a tournament of tennis played on the Wii games console which is taking place at the end of June in Cardiff. The requirement for entry is a 'pro' status of 1000. Richard's status is currently 2096 playing right handed and 2008 playing left handed, so he stands a good chance of doing well. The prize for winning is a cheque for £250 for his chosen charity, and his chosen charity is - yes you guessed it - Sang-ngak-chö-dzong, specifically the Drala Jong appeal."

Wiimbledon’s on the way to Cardiff

"IT’LL be right in the middle of Wimbledon fortnight – but there will be no new balls in sight.

The “Wiimbledon” tournament will take place in Cardiff while the players taking part in its more famous cousin take a break on the middle Sunday.

But unlike the prestigious London competition, there will be no grass, no ball boys, no nets – and definitely no rain.

That’s because the tournament will feature participants competing only on the Nintendo Wii, who will swap tennis rackets for remote controls."

Using a Data Dictionary

"Database applications can be made much simpler if you maintain a body of data that describes your tables. Every single programming task in a database application needs to know something about the tables it is working with, so every program in a framework and many programs in an application can benefit from a central store of information about the database."

Thinkbase

"Thinkbase is a new way to navigate and explore information on the web. It is what we call a 'Visual Wiki'. It is based on Freebase, an open, shared database of the world's knowledge - in other words a Semantic Wiki. Thinkbase uses a visualization tool (Thinkmap) to create an interactive visual representation of the semantic relationships in Freebase."
