Hole in wall becomes art gallery

"A small metal alcove on the side of a clothing store is being transformed into a mini contemporary art gallery. Art graduates Sam Aldridge and Paula Morison decided to turn a 20x28cm hole on the side of Peacocks in Roath, Cardiff, into a showcase for art. "

Cardiff's green centre is under threat

"We believe that the four Grade 1 and Grade 2* listed historic parks that form the unique central core of green space in central Cardiff are under threat. We agree with the Welsh assembly government that: "The whole complex is an asset to the city of incomparable historic, visual and amenity value." Development has eroded and commercialised the three parks to the west of the river Taff. Now Cardiff council proposes to drive a new bridge and 6m wide roads through the Grade 1 listed Bute Park to facilitate commercial events."

Look what has happened to our beautiful park

"CAMPAIGNERS against further development within Bute Park have accused Cardiff Council of planning to erect a horticultural building that will look like a prison complex. The claim by the Bute Parks Alliance pressure group coincides with the release of maps showing changes to the Grade I-listed park since 1942."

Bute Park photographs

"Cardiff Council destruction of Bute park to build a ROAD. 20 plus trees were felled on the site before planning permission - 'necessary maintainance' say the council."

"The bridge is set to be completed in the summer of 2010, linking into Cardiff's existing network of cycle and walking routes. "

Real Cardiff - Whitchurch Common

"When you reach Whitchurch Common from the south you expect to find a green lung surrounded by cottages; something old with oaks at its fringes and a maypole; but this is Wales and this is Cardiff so there's nothing like that. The Common - Gwaun Treoda - is a badly-formed egg shape, criss-crossed by roads and dotted with outbuildings, including an upholster's works, and on a rise on the north east side, Ararat, a Baptist chapel. There's no circuit, no boundary dog amble or path for walkers or runners which doesn't make itself cross the blistering A4054 road to Merthyr at least twice. "
