Whitchurch and Llandaff

"The subject of this website are the people and places of Whitchurch & Llandaff North (past and present). For visitors who don't know, Whitchurch & Llandaff North are two adjoining villages in Cardiff, Wales. My aim is to create a website of interest for people who live locally or that have moved out of the area."

Environment lawyer calls for Bute Park assessment

Professor Kevin Morgan, chairman of campaigning group Bute Parks Alliance, said: “It is quite clear that the council has failed hopelessly in its duty to properly inform the public of its plans.”.

“Nowhere in its disingenuous ‘information’ material does it clarify that the proposed access bridge is more than 28 feet wide, and will be raised on pillars, and that sections of the current eight-foot path would be more than doubled in width and turned into a lorry roadway raised on an embankment.

“Nor does it say it would be still wider on curves to accommodate the largest lorries and that still more of the meadow would be converted to a lorry waiting bay.”

Cardiff's millennium makeover

"The Millennium Centre, locally nicknamed "the Armadillo", is an arts centre in the Bay area. Designer Jonathan Adams wanted a building that expressed "Welshness", and it was built with local materials that reflect the different parts of Wales. The centre's main feature, the bronze-coloured dome, inscribed with verses in Welsh and English, is clad in riveted steel treated with copper oxide. It reflects South Wales's industrial past and was designed to look better with age. The multi-coloured layers of slate represent the stone layers in sea cliffs and reflect the slate quarries of the north."
