"Cardiff expanded rapidly throughout the nineteenth century. Most of the residential developments of that time have survived, but two districts, Temperance Town and Newtown, have disappeared. More than a thousand people lived in each of those districts, but they had to move out in 1937 and 1966 respectively, and their homes were demolished."
