Pedestrianised city street to have taxi access

"CARDIFF council will not fully pedestrianise St Mary Street as was originally planned in its £4.6m scheme, the Echo has been told.

Instead it will leave a short section on the street for hackney carriages and private hire taxis to pick up and drop off.

But it says the pavements will be wider there, allowing shoppers to walk the length of the street up towards Cardiff Castle."
