Shapeways Launches Private Beta for new global marketplace

With reference to Ponoko (http://dolennididdorol.blogspot.com/2008/10/ponokos-photomake-if-you-can-draw-it.html), Shapeways tell me that they have started a service to "allow 3D artists and 3D designers to sell physically printed 3D Objects directly to consumers. This is remarkable opportunity for 3D artists who previously would have to print 3D designs and then resell their creations."

and also

"Shapeways (Philips Incubator Project) has officially launched the first online marketplace for 3D designed products, from gadgets to model trains; it's the "Etsy" for 3D design innovation.

News from Shapeways

Good Afternoon,

On March 1, 2009, Shapeways will turn a year old! A year ago on that day, their very first model was uploaded, ordered and delivered. Just an idea then, Shapeways has now become a reality turning innovative 3D Designs into fully realized physical objects. And as a result artists, architects, product designers and dabbling consumers have all used Shapeways to create their 3D designs in an inspiring and affordable way. http://www.shapeways.com/
