"Mark this down as another sign of the times for the publishing industry: Barnes & Noble just plunked down a cool $15.7 million for e-book seller Fictionwise.com. The purchase ties in with Barnes & Noble's plan to launch its own e-bookstore by the end of the year.The New Jersey-based Fictionwise was founded in 2000. Barnes and Noble stated that it intends to let the company's founders run the site and subsites--including Fictionwise, eReader and eBookwise."
