Greens call for change to ‘arrogant command and control mindset’ of Cardiff Council

Sam Coates, Green Party candidate for Cardiff Central said:

"The programme highlights the arrogance of Council leaders. Little debate has been allowed of what the vision for the future of Cardiff should be. Few questions are asked as to what the relentless drive large scale projects means for the quality of life for ordinary residents."

"Recent development such as fragmentation of bus services to serve the new St Davids 2 shopping mall suggest the Council is only concerned with attracting visitors and their cash, and isn't interested in the needs of people who live here."

"Projects such as the road through Bute Park epitomise this developer led approach. Comments from a Council Officer suggest that the real intention of the road is to open up access for more revenue-raising events which close the park off to the general public."
