Bute Park Revisited - accessible? underhand? audacious?

Park plan will mean greater accessibility

"Cardiff Council is proud of our parks and wants to ensure they are continually enhanced and regenerated so their splendour can be enjoyed by residents, workers and tourists in the city – something which has been outlined as a key goal for us by Cardiff’s citizens in the consultation."

Coun Nigel Howells, executive member, sport, leisure and culture

Underhand tactics on Bute park road

"Last March, they surreptitiously tried to push through a new dual carriageway through the beautiful Bute park.

But after many complaints by the people of Cardiff through this column, they realised there is an election coming up and if they carried on with it they might lose the seats.

Election over, they think the people of Cardiff are asleep and again, furtively, they raise this monstrous plan – and what’s more, the people of Cardiff have only 21 days to raise an objection."

Council's audacious plans for park access bridge

"Cardiff Council has announced ambitious plans to build a dedicated lorry bridge that will allow hauliers unrestricted access into a park in the heart of the city centre. The local authority estimates that between 50 and 100 HGVs travel into the historic Bute Park every week in order to supply the Nursery, provide equipment for open-air events and maintain and manage water flow in the Dock Feeder."
